What do secular and religious mean in the modern Jewish experience? Come hear the co-editors of the new book, "Secularism in Question: Jews and Judaism in Modern times" Ethan Katz and Ari Joskowicz discuss various approaches. Michael Meyer of HUC, a leading scholar of modern Jewish history, Rabbi Ezra Goldschmiedt of Congregation Sha'arei Torah, and acclaimed Jewish educator Arna Poupko Fisher will speak and offer critical commentary on the book. Professor Gila Naveh, head of Judaic Studies at UC, will serve as moderator.
This discussion will be open to Q&A. Copies of the book will be for sale as well at a special 40% discount, and light refreshments will be served.
